RV destroyed, mobile home damaged in Cave Junction fire
A travel trailer is a total loss and a mobile home is heavily damaged in the wake of a fire in the Cave Junction area.
The fire at 357 Turner Road was first called in at 12:48 p.m. Monday, according to a release issued by the Illinois Valley Fire District.
At the scene, the fire department, Rural Metro Fire Department, Oregon Department of Forestry and found the RV trailer actively burning and radiating to the adjacent mobile home. American Medical Response paramedics and a Josephine County Sheriff’s Office deputy were also on scene.
Firefighters were able to stop the manufactured home fire by the time it reached the middle of the structure, but the travel trailer — apparently the first item on fire — sustained heavier fire damage.
The American Red Cross was called to help the fire victims.
As of 6:30 p.m. Monday, the fire had been mopped up, but crews continually checked through the night watching for smoldering. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
