A Southern Oregon-based coffee chain’s one-day fundraiser set a new six-figure record.

Proceeds from the Human Bean’s 16th annual Coffee for a Cure fundraiser — which devoted Oct. 22 food and beverage sales across its more than 300 locations across the United States to nonprofit organizations focused on breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and care — raised $426,551.42, according to a release from the company issued Monday.

The Medford based chain described the amount raised as its “biggest yet,” and over the past 16 years, it has raised a combined $2.6 million for breast cancer-related causes.

The latest funds raised will go to nonprofits and hospitals that specialize in breast cancer , according to the release. The funds will help cover costs of preventative scans for early cancer detection and will support expenses of patients going through treatment.

“The donated funds will be allocated to the patients that need financial help the most,” the release states.

The company’s website devoted to the campaign last listed a 2018 record of $264,000. More than $1 million has been raised in the past three fundraisers.
