Controlled burns continue above Ashland Wednesday

Ashland Forest Resiliency Stewardship Project crews prepare for a controlled burn Tuesday near Lower Bull Gap and Missing Links trails. AFR photo.

Ashland fire officials recommend that hikers and bikers steer clear of Bull Gap trailhead and Missing Links trails while crews conduct another day of controlled burns Wednesday.

The Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest is managing controlled burns between U.S. Forest Service roads 2080 and 2080-20 that began Tuesday and are slated to continue through at least Wednesday, according to Nixle alerts from the city and smokewiseashland.org.

Officials do not expect air quality in Ashland neighborhoods to deteriorate because of the distance from town.
