Three motorists killed in two Josephine County crashes
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office identified three motorists killed in a pair of fatal crashes that occurred over the weekend.
Maureen Fanno, 76, and Joseph Miller, 39, were identified as the drivers killed Friday afternoon in a head-on crash in the 7500 block of Monument Drive north of Grants Pass.
Donald Lennen, 42, was identified as the motorist killed in a Sunday afternoon single-vehicle crash outside Cave Junction, according to releases issued by police.
The head-on crash that killed Fanno and Miller was first reported about 4:11 p.m. Nov. 5, according to the sheriff’s office. Police say they found each driver deceased in their vehicles.
Miller, who was headed north on Monument Drive, reportedly swerved several times into the southbound lane prior to the crash, one witness told police.
Evidence corroborated the victim’s statement, according to the release. A preliminary investigation determined that Miller left his lane of travel and was in oncoming traffic at the time he collided with the vehicle Fanno was driving.
At 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Lennen crashed into a ditch in the area of Rockydale and Waldo roads near Cave Junction, according to police.
Lennen was the only occupant in the vehicle. First-responders including Illinois Valley Fire Department and American Medical Response paramedics say he died at the scene.
