Driver killed in single vehicle crash near Cave Junction
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office has identified the driver who died after crashing into a tree in the Cave Junction area Wednesday night.
Troy Allen Barry, 54, was killed in a high-speed crash reported shortly after 8 p.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Rockydale Road, according to a news release issued Thursday by the sheriff’s office.
Police say the vehicle had been traveling at a “high rate of speed” when the driver failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck a tree.
First-responders, which included sheriff’s deputies, Illinois Valley Fire District and American Medical response paramedics, say the vehicle was heavily damaged in the crash. They say they found Barry, who was the sole occupant, deceased upon arrival.
The sheriff’s office stated it is still investigating the cause of the crash.
