Local high school teacher arrested on suspicion of sex charges

Police investigation about ‘possible inappropriate relationship’ between South Medford High School teacher and student resulted in teacher’s arrest

The Medford Police Department reported on Wednesday that they became aware of a “possible inappropriate relationship” between a student and a teacher at South Medford High School.

Officials with the Medford School District were notified and the teacher in question was immediately placed on administrative leave.

An investigation was conducted which resulted in probable cause to arrest the teacher, Tyler Cienfuegos, 26 years old, for eight counts of second-degree sex abuse, which are felonies, as well as these misdemeanors: five counts of third-degree sex abuse and 10 counts of contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor

Cienfuegos was contacted and arrested without incident on Friday afternoon.

He is being held in the Jackson County Jail for $135,000 bail.
