Firearm incident at Grants Pass bar points police to guns, pot
Grants Pass police say they seized “several firearms” and “a large amount of marijuana and marijuana extracts” following an investigation that started Saturday night with reports of a man pointing a gun at a woman at an area night spot.
Samuel Wyatt Swillinger, 31, was arrested Tuesday on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon and menacing surrounding the Saturday night incident at The 238 Bar in Grants Pass, according to a press release issued by Grants Pass police Wednesday.
The bar, which had a live band playing Saturday night, reportedly provided police with surveillance footage of the altercation that helped police link Swillinger as a suspect.
On Tuesday, police searched Swillinger’s home on Northwest Sunset Drive, where they allegedly found the unspecified guns, pot and pot extract.
As of Wednesday morning, the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office had not yet filed charges in the case, but police said the investigation into Swillinger was still ongoing.
Josephine County Jail records listed no record of a booking for Swillinger this week, and did not show Swillinger as an inmate.
