Animal shelter launches weekend open houses

A 2-year-old husky is among the animals available for adoption at the Jackson County Animal Shelter.

People can now visit the Jackson County Animal Shelter to see adoptable pets without an appointment on weekends.

The weekend hours run from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at the shelter, 5595 S. Pacific Highway, between Talent and Phoenix.

Visitors are asked to check in at the front desk to control the number of people in the kennels. Masks are required, and people should maintain social distance between themselves and others.

Appointments are still required for weekday visits, which are available Tuesday through Friday. The shelter will be closed for the New Year’s holiday Friday, Dec. 31.

To make an appointment, first browse the shelter’s adoptable animals online at fotas.org/adopt. If you find an animal or animals of potential interest, call 541-774-6654 and select Option 7 to schedule.
