Jacksonville Presbyterian Church will host a yard sale to fund a youth group mission to build a safe, secure house in Mexico.

People with items to donate to the sale can bring them to the church campus at 425 Middle St., from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday or Thursday, March 9-10. A team of volunteers will be on hand to help unload donations.

For larger items such as furniture that are more difficult to transport, call the church office at 541-899-1287 to schedule a free pickup on that Wednesday or Thursday.

The community is invited to the Mexico Mission Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, March 11, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the church campus.

Bargain hunters can find furniture, clothes, books, electronics, trinkets, toys, tools, sporting goods and more.

In June, a team of high school students and adult volunteers will give up a week of their summers to travel to Mexico to build a house with a locking front door for families in need through Amor Ministries.

The annual yard sale is not only a large financial contributor to the trip, but is also a way for the entire church and the community to be involved in changing lives, organizers said.

For more than 30 years, Jacksonville Presbyterian Church’s high school youth group has traveled to Mexico to build homes and provide safety, security and hope for families, organizers said.
