Central Avenue reopens after fire

Crews clean up the site of Carson Pacific Pride in the aftermath of the April 13 fire that destroyed four commercial buildings housing seven businesses. The city fully reopened Central Avenue Wednesday morning.

The city of Medford has reopened Central Avenue and removed the lingering detours stemming from last week’s fire, according to a Wednesday morning press release from the city.

The rightmost lane of the street will remain closed while cleanup efforts continue in 900 block of South Central, where four commercial buildings were destroyed in the April 13 fire.

Access is now open for all businesses on Riverside and Central avenues, but the city advised that motorists and pedestrians to use extreme caution as cleanup crews and heavy equipment are in the area.

The fire severely impacted seven businesses. WorkSource Rogue Valley is holding a meeting Thursday for employers and workers at businesses affected by the fire, according to a Tuesday release from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. Southern Oregon University’s Small Business Development Center has also offered to help fire-impacted businesses.
