Town halls set for Rogue River school bond measure

Events are scheduled for Oct. 6, 8 and 17

With Rogue River voters facing a decision about a school bond measure on their November ballots, district officials have organized three town hall events to lay out their proposal and answer questions.

The town halls for Measure 15-208 are scheduled for 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Evans Valley-Old Wimer School library, 8205 E. Evans Creek Road; and Monday, Oct. 17, in the Rogue River Junior/Senior High School library, 1898 E. Evans Creek Road.

“The open forums are a great opportunity for interested community members to come learn more about the proposed projects included in the bond,” wrote Rogue River School District Superintendent Patrick Lee, in an email. “They can also ask questions about the bond process or the bond and ballot measure so that they may make informed decisions come voting time.”

If passed, the bond measure would help pay for numerous district projects, including upgraded high school locker rooms, a separate junior high school wing, and covered play areas at the elementary school. Facilities upgrades would include plumbing, security and safety measures.

Bond questions can be sent to board@rogueriver.k12.or.us.

Editor’s note: This story was revised to reflect the school district’s announcement Thursday that the Oct. 8 meeting scheduled at at the Evans Valley Fire Department has been canceled.
