Nominations sought for trails award
The Oregon Recreation Trails Advisory Council is accepting nominations for its Doug Newman Recreation Trails Achievement Award honoring the state's leading trail builders.
Named in memory of a former council member, the award recognizes individuals or groups for significant contributions to non-motorized trail development in Oregon. Nominations must be submitted to State Recreation Trails Coordinator Rocky Houston of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department in a letter or e-mail by June 26.
Nominators should briefly describe how the accomplishments of candidates or groups in 2008 benefited, or will benefit, a large number of diverse trail users; how they contributed to the planning, design, development or maintenance of recreation trails, showing the significance of their impact locally, regionally or statewide, and inspired other contributors.
More information can be obtained from Houston at 503-986-0750, or by e-mail (Rocky.Houston@state.or.us).
