Why not us?
I’ve grown sick of breathing wildfire smoke the last few summers. There has been a lot of talk about smoke and fire over the last year. It seems pretty basic and there is general agreement that a combination of putting out fires and less logging leaves a lot to burn out there in the forest.
Congress has given new tools to help thin forests and prevent fire, but from your article it appears these don’t help us in Southern Oregon. That’s frustrating.
Senator Wyden referred to those tools as “proven wildfire approaches,” in an OPB story today. I agree, but why has he publicly opposed giving Southern Oregon forests access to those same proven approaches after we’ve suffered so much from smoke? Is he that out of touch with us in Oregon? Does he just not care?
The gifts we give
Kids deserve to enjoy Christmas, so it’s good they’re unaware of the big-ticket items we’re giving them, such as our $21 trillion (and growing) debt. We’re also passing along the costs and catastrophes of climate change, since Republicans prefer to pretend it isn’t happening.
Morally, we’ve given them the role model from hell, a co-conspirator in chief who rose to power by lying incessantly and exploiting racism. From his birther movement to his tirades against immigrants and refugees, Trump thrives on fear, anger and hatred. He actually has a concentration camp holding thousands of Hispanic children in Tornillo, Texas. Your tax dollars at work.
This isn’t a matter of liberal vs. conservative; it’s about the better angels of our nature vs. our inner demons. As we reflect on the reason for the season, remember: Jesus says that whatever we do to the least of these, we do to him.
Rather than a legacy of debt, disaster and dishonor, we could give our children a future. All we need to do is invest in it. Of course, that would require a principled leader who cares about something besides himself. Maybe Santa will bring us one in a couple of years.
Listen to Fox
Why is it, that when it’s time for local news, the local TV stations put the first nine minutes to start with, on fake news. If people really want to know what’s really going on and the truth, they should listen to Lou Dobbs, Tucker Carlson and Fox News.
The fake news has people so confused. Thats all they know because ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, George Stephanopoulos, Jonathan Karl, David Muir, Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley are the most corrupt news media and people there is. I’m not talking about local news. Plus, some more fake stuff that have people thinking the wrong way is the advertisement that Jordan Cove, LNG, has on TV, radio and the Mail Tribune.
Come on folks, wake up and smell the roses and know what’s really going on. You are smarter than that!
