Redemption Ridge

Redemption Ridge is a wonderful organization that needs community help all year long, not just at Christmas time through the Light One Candle appeal. They give a home and counseling to girls from 11 to 18 that have been rescued from sex trafficking. Yes, this happens even here in the Medford area!

Some girls leave because they are not ready to understand their worth, some age out at 18. They are given a backpack with necessities and a cell phone for emergencies. This costs money. They have art therapy. Supplies cost money. They need window coverings for privacy. This costs money. The facility is aging, paint cost money.

Please help all year long. The girls need to know they are worthy human beings, not just a commodity. You can reach Redemption Ridge at 541-816-4415. Be generous!

Disband Secret Service too

So, apparently the president elect is OK with defunding the police. If that is the case, his first official act after taking the oath of office should be to defund and disband the Secret Service Presidential and Vice Presidential security details. Put action where your mouth is Joe.

Oh, and you might want to avail yourself of your Second Amendment rights since you will be responsible for your own security. Reality can be tough.

A vaccine idea

I have not always been in favor of vaccinations. Yet, to encourage COVID vaccination, I do think that those who receive the COVID vaccination should be rewarded.

They could be put on a national registry, given a green button to wear, a card (certificate) of proof of vaccination (with the date). Two weeks after their completion of the vaccination they can be admitted to certain public venues without having to social distance and without having to wear a mandatory mask.

Caveat: Health officials say they cannot say for sure that the vaccine will prevent immunized people from carrying and spreading the virus. Yet, there could be “safe havens” where only immunized people are admitted. Safe havens could be bars, gyms, restaurants, game parlors, gatherings, etc., which would be exempt from lockdown rules. And there should perhaps be a penalty for those who wear the green button but cannot prove they were vaccinated.

The idea is to encourage vaccination and to get the economy and businesses going again.
