Is this worth the trouble?
Yahoo News published that the newly reelected House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rules Committee Chairman James McGovern proposed a new code of conduct to the 117th Congress.
In addition to permanently establishing an Office of Diversity and Inclusion and other diversity measures, the proposed package would “honor all gender identities by changing pronouns and familial relationships in the House rules to be gender neutral.” He, she, her, him, father, mother, son, daughter, wife, husband, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather, mother-in-law, etc. (you get the drift) would be stricken from House language.
In fact, Rep. Emmanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., an ordained minister, closed Congress’s opening prayer with “Amen and Awoman.” “Amen and Awoman”? If I hadn’t seen and heard it on TV news, I won’t have believed it.
I can just imagine trying to legislate laws, which affect women, with “the person(s) of female gender” or “the female spousal in-law of the person in question”! Is this really what the average American is concerned about? Isn’t it bad enough that your Oregon driver’s license gives you the option of identifying yourself as M, F, or X?
The United States of America has never been without its flaws. Prejudice, crime and other far from admirable behaviors have kept it from being precisely what the founding fathers had in mind.
However, what is going on now exceeds anything I could ever have imagined. The three R’s — reasonable, rational, and responsible — have been overshadowed by a fourth: reprehensible.
Yet our president of the past four years is intent upon having his way no matter what it’s doing to the country. His large and vocal following will always be around.
So here we are besieged by a virus that perhaps could have been conquered months ago and an outgoing president determined to remove the word “outgoing” from the dictionary.
The young people of today deserve better.

For shame, Congressman Bentz
Congressman Bentz has begun his service to the people of Oregon’s 2nd District in the worst possible way. On the very day that a mob of Trump supporters — directly incited by Trump himself — violently breached and desecrated the Capitol of the United States, he voted to support a baseless claim of election fraud.
The attack on the Capitol, an act of domestic terrorism that has shocked the world, was the direct result of Trump’s ceaseless lies about the outcome of the election. Shamefully, a large number of elected Republicans have echoed those lies — and Bentz is now one of them.
After multiple state recounts, after 61 failed lawsuits, after two rejections by the Supreme Court, after exhaustive verification that this was the most secure presidential election in American history, there is no possible justification for challenging the result. And yet, Bentz voted in support of Trump’s lies, prolonging the worst threat to American democracy in over a century.
His constituents can only hope that this irresponsible vote represents the low point of his career, and that in future he will faithfully honor his oath to obey the Constitution and serve the people of Oregon.
Telling a lie
Joseph Goebbels, Hitler‘s propaganda minister, said: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”
That is exactly what Adolf Hitler and Donald J. Trump have done very successfully. Using the Bible is the utmost insult to all people of faith!
