‘Voice of American conservatism’

If I were a conservative Republican I would be embarrassed that I was being represented by Rush Limbaugh! What a headline on the front page of the newspaper!

A more appropriate headline for the front page would be “Rush Limbaugh taught Republicans to love an angry, racist bully.”

Checklist of characteristics of a cult that Limbaugh was a major leader of:

The group is focused on a living leader to whom members seem to display excessively zealous, unquestioning commitment.

The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.

Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.

Need I say more?

What sense does it make?

I look to the east and I see Oregon Hills Park. I look to the west and I saw what was, Wes Howard’s park.

What sense does it make for the city of Medford to annex a parcel of land at the extreme western edge of the city and then lease/rent that land and spend $60 million of the public’s money to build an aqua warehouse, better known as the City of Medford Aquatic Center and Rogue Credit Union Community Center at Wes Howard Memorial Sports Park upon the leased/rented land?

It is not centrally located or proximal to any high school. I imagine its walkability score would be negative 3 for a majority of Medford residents. An ironclad lease could be written. However, if the lease was ever broken by either party, the city could at least unbolt the Erector Set structures and put them in storage. Though the city may have to take it in the swim shorts with regard to the disposition of the pool.

Oh, wait: The taxpayers have deep pockets and buckets full of money to bail the city out of any problems!

The ice will live on

The Mail Tribune dated Feb 17 stated that approximately 300,000 people in the Portland area and “millions endure record cold without power” across the nation.

I can’t help but wonder how many of these people can’t get in their car to get help or go to a warm place because the batteries in their car need charging. But there is no power in our grid to charge them.

But wait — this can’t go on because global warming will fix this problem.

But wait — global warming is what’s causing this problem.

So, I guess the ice will live on.

Better buy a generator so you can charge the battery in your car. Better yet, don’t put the gas in the generator, put it in your car and drive to where you have to go.
