The Trump vaccine
President Biden and all Democrats should be telling everyone to go out and get the “Trump vaccine.” They should be praising former President Trump for what he did to bring us all the Trump vaccine. Then maybe the always Trumpers would hurry to be vaccinated with the Trump vaccine and make us all safer and former president Trump even more proud.
Passing voting rights is the way forward
Like many of my fellow Americans, I am frustrated.
I am frustrated with the roadblocks put up by Republicans in Congress that prevent even starting a conversation on critical pieces of legislation. I’m frustrated with the GOP’s relentless attack on our basic rights, including our freedom to vote. According to the Brennan Center for Justice, 17 states have enacted 28 new laws this year that make it more difficult for eligible Americans to cast their ballots.
But I certainly haven’t lost hope — or my determination. Right now, legislators are considering two crucial bills, the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. Together, these bills would create national standards for voting and stop unjust and unfair voting laws. These bills are exactly what we need to reverse the worst attacks on our voting rights that we’ve seen in years.
I am urging Congress to prioritize voting rights and pass the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.
Ugh! According to the website “Truth in Accounting,” the total unfunded U.S. debt (on an individual basis, i.e., every man woman and child) is currently at $855,000. I don’t know about you, but my wife and I would be hard pressed to come up with a very small fraction of that.
I’m beginning to think that there is not one intact, functioning brain in all of Congress. I think we need to ban politicians from access to the printing presses and make them take remedial accounting classes. Couldn’t hurt.
