Seeking impartiality

Where did the notion of impartial and fair reporting go? I don’t see impartial reporting on the major TV news networks nor in print.

Being fair-minded, I always thought two sides to any noteworthy story need to be presented to make an informed decision. When a news outlet allow their political, religious or personal beliefs to dictate what readers need to read, the idea of impartiality vanishes.

Remember what Joseph Goebbels (Hitler’s propaganda minister) wrote, “They are mere words, and words can be molded until they clothe ideas and disguise.” This defines today’s media and the fact that they will not report impartially both sides of a noteworthy story! Could this be defined as propaganda? Global warming, greenhouse gas, carbon tax, gun control (Second Amendment), #metoo, Antifa, BlackLivesMatter, Trump.

Are these not stories that require a counterpoint? Any informed reader will discount any news that uses the term “anonymous source” as believable.

What about circular reporting (most people have no idea what circular reporting is)?
