People can stop wars

Hear the drumbeats of war and threats on Iran chanted by the administration. Why are we ignoring this behavior, which was inspired by unsubstantiated report(s) from unnamed officials saying Iran has attacked four foreign tankers including Saudi?

Smell again the yellow-cake uranium which led us into Iraq War II. Why was the USS Abraham Lincoln — the same ship where Bush declared “Mission Accomplished” on May 1, 2003 — just sent to threaten Iran? Why plan to deploy 120,000 U.S. troops?

Congress should pass HR 2354 and S 1039, the prevention of Unconstitutional War With Iran Act of 2019. Thank our senators for co-sponsoring this and urge Rep. Greg Walden to add his support.

We must stop the endless wars. Congress can reclaim constitutional power and repeal the 2001 and 2002 Authorizations for the Use of Military Force. The 2001 AUMF opened the door to the Afghan War and the 2002 AUMF to Iraq War II.

Ask Walden to support the repeal of the AUMFs — HR 1274 on Afghanistan and HR 2456.

Next, urge Sens. Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden to sign on to SJR 13, repealing the 2002 AUMF on Iraq.

Call the capitol switchboard, 202-224-3121, to reach all of them.
