Ashland letters, Sept. 16: Clean up after dogs
Clean up after dogs
Perhaps etiquette is not the correct term to use for cleaning up after your beloved pet. It is, after all, a matter of sanitation. Those flies that are hovering over fresh dog poo may next be landing on the snack or meal you or your children or grandchildren are enjoying.
This morning I picked up my own dog’s evacuation and also six others that had been left on the edge of the bike trail in the short distance between Mountain Avenue and the beginning of the Railroad Park in Ashland. They were petrified already, but the seventh one that I cleaned up by the children’s playground was not.
The city provides free bags to clean up after your pet. Yes, the box of bags is on the other end of the park, but I suggest that a responsible pet owner should be carrying bags every time he/she steps out the door with pooch.
Please be aware of your dog, come prepared, and use those bags.
