Congress can end wars

Let’s assert our power as citizens, lobbying Rep. Greg Walden and Sens. Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden to end the wars Congress authorized in 2001 and 2002.

Your job and mine is to compel congressional action. Why are there still 14,000 American troops fighting in Afghanistan? Why are U.S. and Afghan forces killing more civilians in Afghanistan than the Taliban? Yet again, why is Congress allowing Trump to send more troops and bombs to fight to protect Saudi oil in the Middle East?

Democracy is not a spectator sport, yet we take an action step when we see this documentary/new release, then decide how we can work for peace. Across the nation, communities are screening “An Endless War? Getting Out of Afghanistan.” Meet our new peace group, Rogue Valley FCNL Advocacy Team, at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Medford library.

Watch the film and find out how our nationwide network in partnership with the Friends Committee on National Legislation (fcnl.org) can push Congress to stop the post-9/11 forever wars.
