Thanks for passing YAAL
We awoke Nov. 4 to the news that the Ashland Youth Athletics and Activities Levy (YAAL) was affirmed by the voters of Ashland, once again!
We were so pleased to log in to the Oregon Secretary of State’s website to view the election results and see that the YAAL passed. Not only did it pass, but what we saw was a landslide victory for local funding for the kids served in the Ashland School District. The passage of the YAAL reflects the generosity and values of a community that invests in our youth. On behalf of the Ashland School Board and the entire District, we thank you.
This funding helps create the opportunities and enhancements that have become synonymous with an excellent K-12 education in Ashland. As you well know, some academic and extracurricular activities for our kids, as well as jobs for our employees, are tied to the YAAL, and thanks to you, our ability to provide these opportunities for kids remains in place.
We look forward to a time when we can be together again, when we can reopen our schools, and when the Ashland School District can educate our kids in person! Until then, please know that we will continue to serve this community with the interests, first and foremost, of kids. We will also continue being trusted stewards of public funding and upholding, to the very best of our ability, the public’s trust.
We thank you for this tremendous gift and the difference it makes for kids in our community.
The Ashland School Board: Victor Chang, Tomas Monter-Rangel, Sabrina Prud’homme, Eva Skuratowicz and Jim Westrick, and 20 Ashland School District administrators and staff
