Rothschild will be missed
I’m sad to read that Saturday’s Herb Rothschild column will be his last. His writing is consistently the most thoughtful and insightful that the Tidings publishes.
I’m especially dismayed to learn that he’s received no compensation or even grateful acknowledgment from Rosebud Media for his efforts. I wonder why the company would take a local columnist of his caliber for granted, while likely paying a substantial amount for the syndicated pablum featured in the opinion section of Sunday’s Mail Tribune.
Local journalism is in crisis all across this country. Supporting it is one major reason to subscribe to the Tidings. But developments like this nudge me in the direction of not continuing my subscription. I hope this incident spurs you to increase your commitment to local journalists and opinion writers.
