Have You Heard...

Fabulous weather has a way of lifting our hearts, especially when it arrives out of season. Since such delights are not always available, we must nourish other avenues to well-being. That's what Have You Heard asked women reveling in the sunshine on a February Sunday: What do you do to boost your self-esteem?

I go shopping. I don't think there's anything better than shopping by myself. It's the opportunity to go and have some quiet time away from my kids.

I have a variety of strategies. Exercise always helps me. I breathe. I walk my dog. I eat well and try to take care of myself because if I don't, I feel bad. I take long hot baths so I have the energy to get through the day.

There's a lot of different answers to that question. I keep in mind I'm a good person. My family loves me, my friends love me and everybody trusts me. It really helps knowing I'm trustworthy.

I spend a lot of time with my family. I'm lucky to have a child and a husband… what more do you need! And I dye my hair.

I play with my baby. I like to read. It relaxes you and makes you realize everything is not as bad as it seems. Take a step back and take a look at what is really going on. Look at it from the outside.

I spend a lot of time with friends and family. A lot of my friends have kids and (kids) are full of joy and energy. I live with two girlfriends and we spend time together and try to get outside as much as possible. I work out and take time to reflect on the day, think positive thoughts and release the negatives. It really works.

Being with my daughter is the most important. I hang out with my friends and I love to go out to the park or lay in the sun. Shopping's a booster. It's a very big booster to get all dressed up and be pretty.

I do things that I love. I spend time with my grandchildren. I'm a quilter and love handwork and reading. I just completed a marathon in Phoenix, Ariz. I'm getting ready to retire and that'll be great. More time to do those things I never have time to do.

I boost my self-esteem by accomplishing in the day what I set out to do. It's very rare, so when I do that, I feel good about myself.
