St. Mark's services

Rev. Jed Holdorph will lead a healing service at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 140 N. Oakdale Ave., Medford.

Guest speaker at Medford SDA church

Portland speaker Ginny Allen, author of "God's Love Song," will give a presentation titled "Catch the Wind" at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Medford Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1900 Greenwood St. 

Allen will give an afternoon presentation titled "Powerful Prayer Times for Busy Christians" at 2 p.m. A potluck will follow. Call 541-772-6021.

Ashland SDA community dinner

Services at Temple Emek Shalom

Rabbi Joshua Boettiger and Chazzan Bella Feldman will lead a series of "Shul School" introductory Jewish education classes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at Temple Emek Shalom, 1800 E. Main St., Ashland. The experimental, hands-on program will focus on Jewish values, Torah and prayer to foster a greater sense of community.

The temple will hold services observing the Jewish High Holy Days. Selichot services will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the temple, 1800 E. Main St., Ashland. Erev Rosh Hashanah services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24. Adult and children's Rosh Hashanah services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25. A Tashlich casting away of sins follows. A second day Rosh Hashanah service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26. A Shabbat Shuvah service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27. A Kol Nidre service will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3. International Peace Day service at Center for Spiritual Living

In observation of International Peace Day, author and interim spiritual director Neale Donald Walsch will lead a service titled "What is Peace?" at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Center for Spiritual Living, 3581 Lear Way, Medford. A Heart Resonance Circle will be offered following the service.

Tibetan Buddhist event

Tibetan Buddhist Center Kagyu Sukha Chöling will host Lama Drupgyu Tenzin (Anthony Chapman) in a presentation titled "Kalu Rinpoche and the Shangpa Lineage: An Evening of Tales and Songs," from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at 109 Clear Creek Drive, Ashland.

Faith-based sobriety events

Foundations for Recovery will hold fundraisers Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26 and 27. A “Battle of the Badges” police-versus-fire softball game will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at U.S. Cellular Field, 300 Lowry Lane, Medford. The event will include free hot dogs, raffle prizes and a silent auction.

A "Drive Out Drugs Recovery Walk" will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Pfaff Park in Central Point. The event will include food vendors, local merchants and information about drug and alcohol education, and will raise money for the organization’s efforts to help those struggling with addiction.
