Religion briefs: Friday, July 15

Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church

Great Vespers begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church, in the Shoppes at Exit 24, 205 Fern Valley Road, Suite Z, Phoenix. Matins begins at 8 a.m. Sunday, July 17, followed by Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. with a potluck meal afterward. Matins will be served at 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 19. Vespers will start at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 20. 

The church will hold a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, July 22 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23. Funds will go toward building a Temple at I-5 and exit 19. First Presbyterian Church, Medford

Pastor Murray Richmond's message is "On the Fringe, or in the Center?" for the 8:30 a.m. informal service and 10:30 a.m. traditional service Sunday, July 17, at First Presbyterian Church, 85 S. Holly St., Medford. The informal service features contemporary music and the traditional service usually has a full Chancel Choir and Shoenstein Pipe Organ music. The choir is on recess. First Church of God

St. Mark's Episcopal Church

Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday, July 17, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 140 N. Oakdale Ave., Medford. Between services a farewell party honoring Margaret and Chris Bell, who are moving to Australia, will be held in the parish hall. At 9 a.m. Sunday, July 31, a single service folk Eucharist with singers and instrumentalists will be directed by Barry Johnson. Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
