Religion briefs: Friday, March 24

Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church

At 5:30 p.m. Friday March 24, there will be a Vigil for Holy Annunciation, at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church, in the Shoppes at Exit 24, 205 Fern Valley Road, Suite Z. St. Basil Liturgy will be served at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 25. Great Vespers begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 25. At 8 a.m. Sunday, March 26, Matins prayers begin, leading into Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m., followed by a meatless and dairy-free Lenten potluck brunch. Wine and oil are allowed. Early Matins begins at 6 a.m. Tuesday, March 28. At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, there will be a Matins service with the reading of the life of St. Mary of Egypt. Midday prayers will be offered at 11:40 a.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. At 7 a.m. Friday, March 31, there will be a Liturgy of the Presanctified gifts. Ashland Congregational Church

Rabbi David Zaslow will talk about his new book, "Reimagining Exodus," at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at Ashland Congregational Church, 717 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. The book explores the Exodus saga from Jewish and Christian perspectives. The event is free and open to the public. A book signing and reception will follow the talk.

St. Mark's Episcopal Church

Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday, March 26, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 140 N. Oakdale Ave., Medford. Parishioners are encouraged to bring nonperishable food to replenish the food pantry. At 9:15 a.m., the fourth in a Lenten series on "Think Anglican" will be presented in the parish hall. Center for Spiritual Living Rogue Valley

The Rev. Kimberly Hawkins will explore the challenges and gifts of Elderhood in her message “The Spiritual Practice of Aging” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 26, at  Center for Spiritual Living Rogue Valley, at the Scottish Rites Center, 3581 Lear Way, Medford. First Presbyterian Church, Central Point

First Presbyterian Church of Central Point, 456 W. Pine St., will have a "Blessing of the Quilts" during the service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 26. The quilting group meets every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon to sew quilts, which are donated to local and international organizations. Adult Bible study begins at 9 a.m. Child care is provided.
