Adopt a Pet

AGE: Hilo is an easy-going, independent 6-year-old pit bull mix who is past all that puppy nonsense and is looking for a home to settle into for his remaining years.

PERSONALITY: This patient dog doesn't demand lots of attention, but he likes having people around to hang out with most of the time. His previous owner often left him alone, and he climbed the fence in search of companionship. Therefore, he will do best in a home where he is not left outside by himself.

HIGHLIGHTS: Hilo tends to get nervous around young children and wants to chase cats that run from him. He warms up quickly to new people, walks nicely on a leash, and is not reactive to other dogs. He is housebroken, treat motivated, and knows basic commands.

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S. Pacific Hwy., between Talent and Phoenix, open 7 days a week.

COST: Hilo’s adoption fee is $95, and includes a free in-home training and a wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Hilo is neutered.
