John and Georgia Patrick

John and Georgia Patrick celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Aug. 19, with a family reunion and celebration at Village Parkway Church in San Antonio, where some of their 17 grandchildren sang, played instrumental duets and even produced a slideshow of the couple's life.

John grew up in Trail, and Georgia was raised in Eagle Point. Both attended Eagle Point High School and graduated in 1962.

Georgia was active in 4-H and represented Oregon at the National Dairy Princess contest in 1963.

John was active in Future Farmers of America and was a delegate on a People to People tour of seven European countries in 1963.

Georgia received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics Education in 1966 from Oregon State University and completed a fifth year for her teaching credential. Georgia taught at Tillamook High School and North Eugene High School before retiring to raise their four daughters, Katherine, Connie, Carolyn and Rebekah.

John received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Oregon in 1968; a Master of Divinity degree from Talbot Theological Seminary in La Mirada, California, in 1975, and a Master in Educational Technology from Oregon in 1985.

John served as a chaplain in the army for 20 years before retiring. He then took a position as senior pastor for a church in Pennsylvania for 10 years. The couple’s assignments in the army took them all over the country and even as far as Germany. In 2005, John and Georgia moved to San Antonio, where they currently live.
