Prayer in the Park

A Prayer in the Park event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the Bear Creek Park amphitheater, 1520 Siskiyou Blvd., Medford. Forty Rogue Valley churches have been invited to participate in a time of prayer and worship with a live gospel band led by singer Jennifer dePuglia. LDS Church, Central Point

Every Child, a nonprofit organization that works to help meet the needs of children and families in foster care, in connection with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is putting on a free concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at the church, 2305 Taylor Road, Central Point. There are more than 11,000 children in foster care in Oregon. There is also an extreme shortage of foster families to meet the needs of these children. Zion Lutheran Church

Worship at Zion Lutheran Church, 516 W. Fourth St., Medford, begins at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, May 13, preceded by adult Bible study at 8:15 a.m.

Sunday School is offered at 10:45 a.m. On Wednesday, a healing prayer service begins at 5 p.m., and an adult Bible study is held at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

Christ Unity Church

Mother’s Day is the subject of the Rev. Rob Wheeler’s talk, given at the 11 a.m. service Sunday, May 13, at Christ Unity Church, 540 N. Holly St., Medford. Every mother will be recognized and receive a token of appreciation. The silent Unity Prayer service is at 11 a.m. every Wednesday, followed by a Bible discussion. First Presbyterian Church, Medford

Pastor Murray Richmond will speak at both the 8:30 a.m. informal service and the 10:30 a.m. traditional service Sunday, May 13, at 85 S. Holly St., Medford. The informal service features more contemporary music led by the Son Shine Singers in a casual atmosphere in the Fellowship Hall. The traditional service features a full Chancel Choir and Schoenstein pipe organ music. The Chancel Choir will sing “Chorale and Alleluia” by John Purifoy. This month, First Presbyterian Jazz Vespers, held at 5 p.m. Sunday, will present the Ed Dunsavage Trio featuring saxophonist Bob Rawlings. The group includes Ed Dunsavage on guitar, Jeff Addicott on bass, and Chicken Hirsch on drums. The artwork of Susan DeRosa will be featured in the Hallway Gallery.

Center for Spiritual Living Rogue Valley

In her message Sunday, May 13, “How Big is Your Dream?” the Rev. Kimberly Hawkins speaks about effective prayer and how to manifest deepest desires, whether for physical or financial health, harmonious relationships, or creative expression. Pre-service candlelight meditation begins at 10 a.m. The Sunday service is at 10:30 a.m. at the Scottish Rite Center, 3581 Lear Way, Medford. Youth and teen programs are at 10:30 a.m. as well. Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church

Great Vespers begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox church in the Shoppes at Exit 24, 205 Fern Valley Road, Suite Z. Sunday Matins prayers will be offered at 8 a.m. Sunday, May 13, followed at 9:20 a.m. with Divine Liturgy. After Liturgy, a potluck meal will be shared, continuing to celebrate the Resurrection.

There will be a Matins service at 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 15. There will be a vigil followed by a class on speaking the truth taught by Father Isaac Skidmore at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16. Divine Liturgy will be served in honor of the Ascension at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 17.

Trinity Episcopal Church

Community Celtic Evensong and Communion will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 13, at the church, 44 N. Second St., Ashland. Medford Congregational United Church of Christ

The Rev. Laura Lee Kent will preach at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 13, at Medford Congregational United Church of Christ, 1801 E. Jackson St., Medford.
