Ashland Lions support band programs

Each summer since 2008 the Ashland Lions Club has sold ice cream at the Thursday evening Ashland City Band concerts. Proceeds from ice cream sales have been donated equally to the Ashland High School and Ashland Middle School band programs.

Donations from 2008 to 2020 exceeded $30,000, with the 2020 contribution exceeding $3,000.

The Lions typically present checks to the band programs at their school band concerts. In February, the Lions presented $1,561 to the high school program at its concert, and it planned to make the Middle School presentation in May but had to mail the check due to the COVID-19 closure.

The coronavirus situation has already resulted in the Lions having to cancel its 64th annual Feast of Will and may result in no City Band Concerts and ice cream sales this summer. If you enjoyed these events in the past and would like to help the Lions continue their support of the bands and other community projects, you can make donations to the Ashland Lions Club at PO Box 3340, Ashland, OR 97520.

For more information, call the club at 541-324-1515, or see the Ashland Lions website at www.ashlandoregonlions.org, or its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Lions97520/.

The club’s regular meetings are normally held the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at La Casa Del Pueblo, 1209 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, but the meetings have been temporarily canceled until the pandemic ends.
