Motorcyclist killed in east Medford crash
A 44-year-old man died Saturday evening in a motorcycle crash that occurred in east Medford.
The motorcycle driver has been identified as Justin Dan Rollins, according to a Medford police news release.
Police and medical responders were first dispatched to the crash, reportedly a two-vehicle incident involving Rollins’ motorcycle and a small SUV on North Phoenix Road near South Village Drive, at 5:15 p.m.
Officials from Medford Fire-Rescue and Mercy Flights attempted to aid Rollins, who had suffered severe injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, but was later pronounced dead. The driver of the SUV, who has not yet been identified, was not injured.
Information on how the crash occurred was not immediately available. Medford police’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the crash, and the case will be forwarded to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office for review.
