Crosswalk construction coming to EP
EAGLE POINT – Construction on crosswalk curb ramps will cause short delays at three intersections here over the next three weeks, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Construction will begin on the Crystal Drive intersection Friday, July 18, Nita Way intersection July 25 and Old Oregon Highway 62 signalized intersection just north of the Little Butte Creek bridge Aug. 1. Drivers should look for signs and expect delays for a week at each construction zone as crews build crosswalk curb ramps that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
“Each one is about a week and it gives the contractor room to safely demolish the particular crosswalk and then form it and rebuild it,” ODOT spokesman Gary Leaming said.
ODOT is constructing hundreds of curb ramps across the state, including Jackson and Josephine Counties, to meet ADA requirements.
