Richard Alvin Strong
He was born on September 1, 1932, in Lawrence, Kansas to Lonnie Alvin and Ona Bell Strong. — Richard grew up in Myrtle Creek, served in the Korean War, and settled in Ashland after marrying Betty Tripp. Later they moved their family to Talent. Richard retired from the United Grocers in 1992, after 30 years as a driver.
He was a Master Gardener and farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring early model John Deere Tractors, and his church, Calvary Baptist of Ashland, where he once served as Music Director.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Strong of Talent; sons, Stephen Strong of Montrose, Colorado, Wayne Strong of Springfield, and Wade Strong of Talent; daughter, Wanda Taylor of Ashland; brothers, Dudley and Larry Lee; sister, Sonja; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 18th at the Eagle Point Veteran&
