Leeda S. Bishop
A memorial celebration for Leeda Spence Bishop will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2005 at the Mountain View Retirement Community, Ashland. Officiating will be Rev. Michael Powell of the First United Methodist Church, Ashland. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland.
Mrs. Bishop, 100, of Ashland, died Friday, August 5, 2005 at her home.
She was born March 5, 1905 in Golden, Oregon, a daughter of Ada and Archie Spence. She graduated from Medford High School. In 1922 in Yreka, CA, she married Clayton Franklin Bishop who preceded her in death in 1960.
Mrs. Bishop worked as a fruit basket designer for Harry and David.
She enjoyed painting, writing poetry, knitting, and jewelry crafts.
Mrs. Bishop was a member of the Ashland Historical Society, Bellview Grange, the Writers Guild, and the Artist Guild.
Survivors include her son, Jack M. Bishop and his wife Ruth of Arlington TX; her sister Velna Reiten of LaPine, OR; daughter-in-law Beverly Bishop of Fair Oaks, CA; grandchildren, David Bishop and wife Marsha, Mark Bishop, and Anne Bishop; great-grandchildren, PFC Nick Bishop, Army helicopters currently serving in Kuwait, Shanna Bishop, Chad Beasley, Wesley Welnack, and Kristin Bishop; and her great-great-granddaughter Janessalynn Bishop. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Gene C. Bishop; sister, Dalpha Reid; and brothers Archie and Eldon Spence.
