Don died March 31, 2006 at his home.

A celebration of Don's life will be held at 2 p.m. on April 22, 2006 at Redmen Hall, 110 S. 3rd St., Jacksonville, Oregon.

Don was born to Theodore R. and Josephine Anderson Cordell on December 20, 1949 in Huntington Park, California. He attended schools in Whittier, California. He graduated with honors from Whittier High School in 1967. In 1971 he graduated suma cum laude with a B.S. in Geology from the University of Redlands and in 1973 earned a M.S. in Geology from the University of Oregon.

On April 13, 1974, Don married Deborah Catlett in Whittier, California. They have two children, Benjamin and Darcy.

Don's career began in 1974 with Bechtel Engineering in L.A.; followed by the Water Resources Dept. in Salem, Oregon; Sweet, Edwards & Assoc. in Kelso, Washington. He moved his family to Medford in 1996 to become President of the Dry Creek Landfill until his death.

Don was a Registered Geologist and Engineering Geologist. He was a past board member of O.R.R.A. and was on the Solid Waste Advisory Committee, S.W.A.N.A., and a member of the Medford Rogue Rotary. Don enjoyed gardening, skiing, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was especially fond of the High Sierras and spent many happy hours of his youth backpacking, fishing and hiking.

Don is survived by his wife, Debbie; his son, Ben; and his daughter, Darcy. His mother, Jo and brothers, Vern and Bob also survive him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Don's memory of the Dept. of Geological Sciences, 1272 University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon, 97403.
