James Arthur Rose, age 80, passed away April 17, 2006. Jim was born January 27, 1926 to Harry and Ester Rose in Rushville, Nebraska. He moved to the Rogue Valley with his family in 1943. He married Beverly Brooks in 1963 and they were married for 33 years. Beverly passed away in 1996. Jim called himself a "produce peddler." He started Jim's Wholesale Produce Company and delivered to much of Southern Oregon-Cave Junction to Shady Cove and everywhere in between. He later started Jim's Produce Market on Crater Lake Ave. & Spring St. Both businesses were successful due to Jim's amazing business sense. Jim was active in the Elks Club, the Shrine and as a Jester. In the last seven years he traveled a lot with his companion, Marianne, whom he called "My English Lady." Those travels took him to many, many places, such as the Amazon, India, Europe, Peru, and always Puerto Vallarta. Jim is survived by children, Richard Rose & Cheryl Rose-Gonzalez (Greg Gonzalez) both of Medford and Tanis Teich, Boston, Mass.; four grandchildren, Gabriel and Aleah Rose-Gonzalez, Kevin and Tegin Teich; two sisters, Temple Gibson (Boyd Gibson) of Medford; Dora (Vernon) Tatham of Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Lyle (Betty) of Portland, Ore. He was preceded in death by brother, Ray Rose, and sister, Doris Queen.

Jim was an amazing man who worked hard, played hard, was a loving father, grandfather, and a great businessman, and a friend to many. He will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held April 29, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church (6th and Oakdale) in Medford. Donations can be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
