Evelyn Muriel Phillips NewComb
Evelyn Muriel Phillips NewComb passed away peacefully on April 23, 2006, age 87, to join her husband, William Charles II. She is survived by her two children, Marga and Bill III with granddaughter, Linda.
Muriel was born August 28, 1918 in New York, raised in Jamestown. She met her husband, Bill II (Honey) while attending college in New York and they were married 48 years when he passed. They were both fine-artists, inspired by love of nature, using their talents in daily living, sharing with the community & teaching young people. They raised their family in California then retired in Shady Cove. Well, he retired; she took on being City Recorder, finally stopping to fight off cancer and spend more time with Honey.
Muriel was also blessed with a beautiful singing voice and grateful for the gift to share. For years churches in the Rogue River Valley looked forward to hearing her voice on Sundays. Muriel had a natural elegance about her, and enjoyed looking it, and she never hesitated to put herself aside and pitch-in when someone needed help. She was full of life, always creative, sometimes competitive, often stubborn, and had a dry sense of humor.
There are many who will miss her sparkle including: her three sisters, Irene, Alberta, & Leola; her two brothers, Donald & Lawrence; and her very dear friend Frank.
Special thanks to the people at Farmington Square and Hospice for their capable and loving care over the past few weeks.
Muriel - Rest in Peace
