Bette V. Lacy, formerly of Medford, Lake Oswego, and resident of Portland, died on April 26. She was 85. She wrote her own obituary:
She married Stanley J. Lacy on February 4, 1945 in Lancaster, California. He preceded her in death on August 14, 1995. In early years the family lived in Whitefish, Montana and Seattle, Washington. During the course of her husband's career with the National Weather Service, the family lived in Medford, Oregon, and Kensington, Maryland. Mrs. Lacy and her husband retired to Lebanon, Oregon in 1976, moving to Lake Oswego in 1989. Mrs. Lacy moved to Portland in 1997.
Mrs. Lacy was born January 2, 1921 in Tucson, Arizona and was the granddaughter of Pinckney Randolph Tully, 1st Territorial Treasurer of Arizona. She graduated with Distinction from the University of Arizona where she was elected to Mortar Board (senior women's honorary), Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, Sigma Alpha Iota (music honorary), ORCHESIS (dance honorary), and Alpha Epsilon (business honorary).
Mrs. Lacy was a soprano soloist throughout her life and was a leader in music, church, and community events.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, P.E.O Sisterhood, Mortar Board Alumni Club of Washington, D.C., Oregon State Society of Washington, D.C., Chevy Chase, Maryland Women's Club, Welcome to Washington Club of Washington, D.C., and was a charter member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Lacy is survived by sons John of Sherwood, and Jim of Hobbs, New Mexico, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
