Marian T. Place

Marian T. Place, 95, former Medford resident, died Friday, April 14th in Bend, Ore., where she had been living for the past four years. A graduate of Rollins College (Florida), she met and married Howard Place in Glasgow, Mont. in 1936. For many years they lived in Butte, Mont. before moving to Portland and then Medford. She was the author of several magazine articles, over 40 books for children and the recipient of numerous awards for her contributions to children's literature. In 1974, Marian and Howard coauthored a book on Crater Lake. She also worked in Adult Services at the Jackson County Library.

Marian Place is survived by her son, David of Bend; daughter, Nancy of Gig Harbor, Wash.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her husband, Howard, preceded her in death.

Burial of ashes was in Siskiyou Memorial Rose Garden.
