A longtime Central Point resident passed away May 22, 2006 at a care facility near Olympia, Wash. She was born April 5, 1924 to George and Irma Huston in Langlois, Ore.

Leona was the beloved wife of Albert Thompson, who preceded her in death. She was the mother to Kathleen (John), Julie (Dan) and Becky (Fred); grandmother to Jenette (Albin), Aaron (Mitzi), Jeffrey (Penny), Scott and Andrew; great-grandmother to Macy, Tyler, Sydney and Bo; sister to Harold and Clarence, who preceded her in death, and Loyd (Donna).

Leona graduated valedictorian from Central Point High School in 1942. She and Albert co-owned Feldman & Olson Appliance and Electrical contracting business with Hal and Virginia Kruerer, where Leona was a bookkeeper. Leona was also a library assistant at Jewett Elementary School, retiring in 1984.

She was a wonderful seamstress for her daughters. She enjoyed reading, watching and collecting old movies and visiting the Oregon coast.

A memorial service will be held at Memory Gardens, 1395 Arnold Lane, Friday, May 26, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association. www.cancer.org or www.alz.org.
