Marion E. "Gene" Freed
Gene was born April 30, 1923 in Holton, Kans., to Edna and Albert Freed. He was one of nine children. He passed away July 4, 2006 in Medford, Ore., with his wife by his side.
Gene served in both the Air Force and Army during WWII and Korea. He received the purple heart while serving in WWII.
On June 17, 1960 he married Clara Snider in Medford, Ore.
Gene is survived by his wife and eight children. Gene and Earline Freed, Ark., Ron and Sue Freed, Emporia, Kans., Sharon and David Cross, Ark., Carolyne Norwood, Bentonville, Kans., Barbara Harris, Moses Lake, Wash., Donald Snider, Eagle Point, Ore., Bill Snider, Calif., Marty and Kevin Kimmel, Rogue River, Ore., 23 grandchildren and 25 great-granchildren, with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven of his brothers and sisters. The viewing is today at Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives from 3-5 p.m.
Services will be held at the Eagle Point National Cemetery on Monday, July 10, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service at Alderwood Assisted Living Facility in Central Point at 3:00 p.m.
