Carl Raymond Dykstra

Carl passed away July 17th, 2006 from complications from a stroke. At his request, there will be no funeral. Inurnment is at Log Town Cemetery.

He was born January 6, 1922 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Harry Dykstra and Catherine De Haan Dykstra. He graduated from South High School in Grand Rapids in 1940. On October 30th, 1945, in Medford, he married Mabel Winningham, who survives.

Carl joined the Army Air Corps March 7, 1941 and served until September 24, 1945. His service was spent in Alaska, Canada, and the U.S. as a radio operator with the Army Airway Communications System. He returned to Unalakleet, Alaska, with the CAA after his discharge. He was employed for several years with Pap Bros as a heavy machine salesman until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Medford, and a life member of the Medford Elks Lodge #1168.

Carl is survived by his wife; one daughter, Carol Renee Plumb, Medford; a granddaughter, Valerie Erfurt, Salem, Ore.; a grandson, Bradley Plumb, Bend, Ore.; four great-grandchildren, Jessica and Jake Erfurt of Salem, and Brianna and Brenden Plumb of Bend; and several nieces and nephews.
