Helen Eden Miller

September 21, 1917- June 24, 2006

Helen's proud spirit joined her Lord and Savior June 24, 2006.

Helen was born September 21, 1917, in Legal, Coal Co., Okla. Her father, Mack Eden, a full Irishman, was born September 9, 1887 in Hoyt, Okla.; her mother, Julia Jones Eden, a Choctaw, was born September 21, 1896 in Indian Territory before Oklahoma was a state.

Helen graduated from Southwestern Teacher's College (an all girls Indian college) in Durant, Okla. She then taught two years at Fairview school, a one room schoolhouse, grades one through eight.

She had a passion for golf. She was Club Champion at Red Hill CC, Upland, Calif., for nine years consecutively, Southern California Grandmother's Champion and one of the ten top amateur women golfers in Southern California.

In 1993 she moved to Medford and enjoyed playing the different golf courses in the area. She also enjoyed her neighbors and her friends at the senior center.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Howard G. Miller; her parents, Mack and Julia Eden; sister, Lucille Wheeler; brothers, Foy Eden and Fred L. Eden.

She is survived by sisters, Bessie Lewis, June McCormick and Ida Williams, and brother, Farris G. (Pete) Eden, Sr.

Helen is survived by three children: sons, Glynn R. Allen, Medford, Ore., Gerry E. Miller, Medford, Ore., and daughter, Helen Kay Hill, Salem, Ore; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
