James A Robinson
A memorial service for James (Jim) A. Robinson will be held Thursday, July 27, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Trail Christian Fellowship, 18881 Hwy 62, Eagle Point, OR 97524, (541-878-3501). All friends and family are welcome to pay their respects at this time.
Jim passed away suddenly on July 23, 2006 in his Shady Cove home. He was discovered by his wife, Kathy Robinson, resting peacefully in his reading chair.
Jim was born in Gilroy, Calif., on January 2, 1940, to Arthur and Elizabeth Robinson. He married Karen Fosnaugh on May 16, 1959 and they had three children over the next five years. In 1967 Jim moved the family to the Rogue Valley, where he resided the remainder of his life. He divorced Karen in 1997, and married Kathy Simms on June 24, 2000.
Jim loved the outdoors, fishing, and reading. He served in the Marines after high school and then graduated from the California Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Apprentice Program in 1963. In Oregon, he became active in the Local 290 Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Union. He represented Local 290 at the local and state level, including serving as President. He was an instructor in the apprenticeship program for the Southern Oregon region from 1984-2002. He retired from practicing the trade in 2002 and from teaching in 2005.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kathy; eldest son, Doug and his wife, Kathy (Tigard); daughter, Diana and husband, Ed Laramee (Vancouver); youngest son, Mike and wife, Cindy (Gold Hill); stepson, Scott Simms (Salem); and grandchildren, Nic, Jimmy, and Jordan.
He will be missed by all who knew him. The family would be honored if all who had associated with Jim sign either the memorial book at the service or the on-line guest book. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation, in Jim's memory, to the American Heart Association, as a tribute to his life.
