Billie Mae Bardsley
Billie Mae Bardsley
Bille Mae Bardsley, 79, passed away July 25, 2006, at the Lauren Hills Nursing Home.
Billie Mae (Arnett) Bardsley was born May 28, 1927, in Roswell, New Mexico, to Oscar and Roxy Ann Arnett. She lived in the house of old west legend Pat Garret (which is now a historical landmark). She learned of many old west tales and stories that she would tell us as children.
When Billie was in her teens, the whole family moved out to California and finally settled in Oakdale, California.
Billie then went to work at the Kaiser Ship yards in the Bay area (she was a Rosie the Rivet girl). She also worked in Monterey, Calif., at the Cannery Row sardine packing plant.
Billie Mae married Kenneth Bardsley on August 1, 1945, in Oakdale, Calif. Billie spent about 47 years in neighboring Modesto, Calif., Stanislaus County and San Joaquin Counties.
Billie was a vibrant, exciting person who loved country music and cooking was her favorite pastime. She could sew clothes that looked like they came off the rack.
Most of all she loved children, and being one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I think she would like to leave everyone with this last scripture: (Rev. 21:3, 4) 3. Look! The tent of God is with mankind and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain anymore, the former things have passed away.
