Doris E. Greene

Doris E. Greene, 101, died at the Maryville Nursing Home in Beaverton, Ore., on August 13, 2006.

Doris was the descendant of one of the original families that settled in the Rogue River Valley. She lived in the Medford area from her birthdate in 1905 until 1983, except for several years that were spent at the University of Oregon. During this time she met and married Charles Richard (Dick) Greene. She had three children, raised them to maturity and buried her husband.

Her interests, other than her family in this period was the breeding and raising of champion Cocker Spaniels and the Garden Club.

Doris followed her youngest son to Southern California in 1980 and then followed him again, back to Oregon in 1993 where she settled in Beaverton. She remained in Beaverton in a retirement community until she needed more care and moved to an assisted living residence in Tigard in 2004 and finally to Maryville in 2005.

Doris is survived by her eldest son, Nick Greene of Denver, Colo., nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two youngest children.

She was given much attention in her later years of life by her youngest son's second wife, Thelma Greene, who lives nearby in Hillsboro.

Services will be held at the Siskiyou Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2006. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
