Margie MacKinnon Fixott

Margie MacKinnon Fixott, 67, of Tigard, Ore., formerly of Medford from 1982 to 1991, died August 15, 2006 from cancer.

A funeral service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church on Saturday, August 26th at 2:00 p.m.

Margie was born November 21, 1938 in Framingham, Mass. In 1966 she married Dr. Ernest Hurley who passed away in 1973. In 1982 she married Dr. Rupert Fixott who survives.

Margie was a Dental X-Ray Instructor for Oregon Health & Sciences University School of Dentistry. She was raised in Framingham and attended Jonathan Maynard Elementary and Lincoln Junior High School. She moved to Portland in 1954 and graduated from Jefferson High School. She attended the university of Oregon and Portland State University. She was active in the Republican Party, the National Federation of Republican Women and the Oregon Federation of Republican Women. She was a delegate from the 2nd congressional district to the 1984 National Republican convention in Dallas, Texas. She served on the Board of Trustee of the Southern Oregon Historical Society from 1984 to 1987; as a Republican Precinct Committeeperson for Jackson and Washington Counties; on Board of Directors for Highlands Homeowners Association. She was active in the P.E.O and Vestry of Ascension Parish. She was a member of the King City/Tigard Republican Women or Mainstream Republicans and Nova Scotia Highland Village Society.

Margie is survived by her husband, Dr. Rupert of Tigard, Ore.; step-son, Dr. Richard Fixott of Redmond, Ore.; step-daughter, Ann Star Heer of Stockton, Calif.; cousin, Ethel Hedlund of Portland, Ore.; an aunt; several cousins in the East and Canada; and step-grandchildren.
