Warren G "Larry" Larimer

Warren G "Larry" Larimer passed away on Aug. 14th 2006, in Medford, Oregon. He was buried in Eagle Point Cemetery. A memorial for family and friends will be held on Sept. 8. For details, call Linda at 773-5789.

Larry was born January 4, 1921 to John L. and Lillis Larimer, in Bruce, South Dakota. He moved to Medford with his family in 1934, and graduated from Medford High School in 1937.

He married Faye L. Grubbs of Ashland in 1938 and they had 65 years together before she passed away in December, 2003.

He is survived by daughters, Sharon Lesley and Linda Copper (Tom) of Medford; grandsons, Steve Mayfield (Lori) of Medford, Jeff Mayfield (Candi) of Texas, David Simonsen, Salem; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Alyssa Mayfield, Medford; and Tiffany and Logan Mayfield, Texas.

Larry served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the Island of Saipan where he set up and ran a laundry serving thousands of enlisted personnel and officers. He drove a truck for most of his working years, both long haul and local delivery, retiring in 1983. He and Faye then enjoyed traveling, and spent many summers at Howard Prairie Campground, where they had many friends.

He volunteered with the Veterans Administration, shuttling vets to appointments in Roseburg, as well as monitoring handicap parking spaces with the Oregon State Police.
