Mr. Chaney, 73, of Jacksonville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 2, 2006. He was born Sept. 29, 1933 in Milton, W.Va. On Feb. 9, 1957 in Camp Springs, Md., he married Frances M. Harrison, who survives. In Feb. 2007 it would have been their 50 year anniversary.
He had lived in the Rogue Valley since 1989, moving here from southern California, after his retirement. He owned and operated various security businesses in the San Gabriel Valley, Calif. for 28 years. In 1999 he moved to SW Missouri to fish with friends who were already there. In April of 2005 he returned to the Rogue Valley.
He had served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was a jet mechanic. He met his wife, Frances, while at Andrews AFB in Maryland.
He loved being with his family, fishing, hunting, traveling in his motorhome, gardening, watching Gunsmoke, playing cards and telling stories (mostly true). He had been a volunteer for the Gold Hill police reserves. He had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed.
